Diarist A15 Day11

Diary May 15, 2019

Woke up before 8 AM and rested in bed listening to the radio until 8:10.

Got up, showered, washed/set hair, got dressed, drank coffee, had a Premier Protein drink for breakfast and left the house about 9:30.

We have a painter working on the trim of our house, so I talked to him a few minutes before I left. Also, two of the little boys from next door said “Hi” to me and I had brief conversations with them.

I drove to Ball State’s Fitness Center, about 8 minutes away, and checked in with a 10:00 appointment with a dietician who is working with me on weight loss. I haven’t lost like I would have wanted, but meeting with her helps me feel accountable and gets me refocused. I am borderline diabetic so I’d like to eat fewer carbs and lose some weight.

About 10:30, I left there and drove to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to renew my driver’s license. This was my second attempt to do so as the first time I didn’t have my official Social Security card, just a paper from the SS Department that had my name and number on it. This was not enough. Today I had everything and got a temporary license. My official one will be mailed to me soon. I was annoyed the first time and still have concerns that a lot of people won’t have all the documentation that is now required. I hope I’m wrong, but this could serve as a means of voter suppression in future elections.

I stopped at G&M Home and Garden Shop and bought 2 knockout roses to replace 2 bushes that died over the winter. Actually, I think I may have some more dead ones to replace but I have to let things grow a bit more to know for sure. I also bought a rose bush for a friend whose mother died. Her mom liked pink roses, so that’s what I bought.

I made a quick stop at Burger King and got a Whopper Junior for lunch. Following that, I stopped by my house to drop off 2 of the rose plants. I didn’t want them to wilt in the car. I picked up my lock box key and drove to the bank. At the bank, I put my SS card back in my lock box. I also ran by the BSU Credit Union because I had a question regarding the Credit Union’s insurance policy information which I received in the mail.

At 1:00, I met with the curator of the Rinard Orchid Greenhouse to discuss the Friends’ membership. The Friends group supports nature education programs given by the greenhouse. It took us about 2 hours to get the list updated and the new cards made.

On my way home, I stopped by my friend’s house and gave her the pink rose I bought earlier in the day. Her mom died in November and I said at the time I wanted to do something special so she mentioned her mother liked pink roses.

I came home, filed papers from the busy day and got ready to go to some other friends’ house for dinner. They had a huge fish boil dinner. Two other couples were there.

We got home about 8:00 and I finished typing the diary. Overall, it was a good day and I felt satisfied that I got quite a few errands done that I needed to do. I have had a cold the past 3 weeks and have let some things go. I got caught up today. Tonight I talked to my daughter in Fishers about babysitting tomorrow.
