Diarist A24 Day06

November 14, 2017

Dear Diary: It has been an interesting day. Woke up to the phone ringing. “Happy Birthday! Sister!”
Was the greeting I got. My sister, A, called to wish me a happy 75th birthday and arrange lunch- a tradition we have done for years. Looks like it is going to be a good day but I have to delay the lunch until Wednesday, because my day is full!
So, pup and I get up. Let her gout, get things ready for breakfast! yogart with mandarin oranges, hot tea, and toast to share with D.
Called my daughter, L, to see if she could take me down to the Marott at 11:30 am to meet my friend. No car right now.
Read the newspaper, ate breakfast, and got ready to leave. That’s what happens when you are retired and sleep to 10:00 am.
My daughter picks me up at 11:15 am and off to meet a good friend (she lives in Dillsboro, Ind.). S is here at an in service for a group I use to work for. We usually only talk on the phone.
While sitting in the lobby waiting for S I got to see some old friends I use to with. W, Li, H, D, etc. I have been retired from my job for 10 years and have not seen them during that time.
My friend S has agreed to take me to get my hair cut—schedule at 1:30 pm, a birthday present from my eldest daughter, J.
After the hair cut off to Johnny Carino’s for lunch with S and my daughter, B. Good food and good company. What more can you ask for?
Left about 3:30 pm. Need to get home to get ready for supper with 3 of my daughters, my ex-husband and my son-in-law. Supper at Applebee’s at 6:00 pm. As we waited we hear that some group was having a donation dinner. We were not sure what group it was. As we were eating we asked the waitress about it. “Feed our Sheep”, (B was telling use earlier about how they had been robbed. So, we donated our meals to them. The table across from us heard us and told us they worked with “Feed our Sheep” and Thanked us for our donations. When they got ready to leave, they asked if our waitress would take our picture with them.
Trip home was uneventful, of course. A happy dog is glad to see us. Friend, good wishes for my birthday on face book and on the phone. What a great way to end a wonderful day.
