Multi-Sensory Big Data Deep Learning Approach to Indoor Autonomous Navigation

Shaoen Wu is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and the Assistant Chair of the Department of Computer Science. Wu will design, develop and test a deep learning model to gather preliminary but substantial data to support a proposal to the National Science Foundation’s CISE/SAS program. The target of the research will be the development of indoor autonomous navigation through a deep learning model that employs multi-sensory data derived from image, video and radar. The long-term vision of the project is to enable indoor autonomous navigation for people, especially the visually impaired, in their daily life activities.
