Digital Feed – Applications of 3D Simulation, Virtual and Augmented Reality in Scholarship

On January 25, 2018, the Digital Scholarship Lab held its first Digital Feed of the year. The topic of the feed was on “Applications of 3D Simulation, Virtual and Augmented Reality in Scholarship” with John Fillwalk & the IDIA Lab staff. John Fillwalk, Director of BSU’s Institute for Digital Intermedia Arts (IDIA) showcased virtual and interactive digital research projects which were produced in collaboration with scholars from across the arts, sciences and humanities . The projects surveyed approaches to virtual reality, augmented reality, data visualization, head-mounted displays, human computer interface, multi-user virtual worlds and mobile applications. After Fillwalk’s presentation, IDIA Lab staff were on-hand during the break out session to provide hands-on technology demos for exploration of the approaches mentioned in the presentation.
