DSL Public Talk: Jason Heppler, “‘Don’t Let Industry Do its Business In Our Water!!!’: Urban Space and Environmental Politics in Silicon Valley”

On Wednesday, April 12 at 7:30 PM, the DSL will host a public lecture by Jason Heppler, Digital Engagement Librarian and Assistant Professor of History at the University of Nebraska-Omaha titled, “‘Don’t Let Industry Do its Business In Our Water!!!’: Urban Space and Environmental Politics in Silicon Valley.” The lecture is based on his research into the ways in which activists influenced by the environmental movement reconfigured urban culture in the American West between 1945 and 1990. He will present some of the digital scholarship modules from his dissertation’s digital companion, Machines in the Valley, including interactive visualizations, dynamic narratives and analysis that extend upon themes presented in print. The lecture is free and open to the public.
