Diarist C47 Day08

EDLM Diary – April 27, 2018

The day started when I woke up at 8:07 long before the alarm went off at 9:00 thanks to the sunshine. I don’t even mind – so glad the long winter seems to finally be over!
Bathroom – throw on jeans with my sleep shirt and grab my FitBit (I don’t want to miss counting a single step). I go to the living room where hubby is getting ready to leave for work and is surprised I’m up. I kiss him goodbye, get some iced tea from the frig and grab a banana for breakfast recording it in my Weight Watchers app. Zero points is good since I’ll be eating out today for lunch and dinner. Open the front curtains. Smile about the grape hyacinths blooming that I planted last Fall.
Check the temperature on my phone (45?) and then on the back porch thermometer (60?). Sunshine guarantees it’ll be warm enough to spend some time on our south facing enclosed porch (even in the winter). It’s my favorite place to be when I’m home. I email my friend L to verify we’re still on for lunch. Checked online that hubby’s check deposited and record in checkbook. I do my morning stretching exercises and finish getting dressed – layers are almost always the dress code in Indiana. I pick my bright turquoise shirt because I’m so ready for Spring and bright colors – black hoodie and black FitFlops. Brush teeth, put on moisturizer with sunscreen, mascara and make the bed. I put on the new earrings that my friend made. My phone buzzes to remind me to pick up pizzas at Little Caesar’s for a local charity – I briefly wonder how long I’ve been doing this now. I turn the volume on my phone on. Text with my sister who is headed back home after wintering in Florida and she mentions thinking of me because of the trees blooming that I called “popcorn trees” as a child. I’m looking forward to seeing her. I read my morning devotion from Red Letter Christians and get ready to head out for the morning.
Tea ?
Fitbit in pocket ?
Phone ?
Mascara & earrings on ?
Sunglasses?
I head to the credit union to get some cash for hubby and to move some money to the other bank savings then head to Little Caesar’s and on downtown to drop them off. I take the “scenic route” and enjoy seeing all the trees and flowers in bloom. I see lots of “popcorn trees”. I’m also intentionally noticing the political signs because hubby and I talked on our walk last night about all the ones we’d seen not having which political party the candidate was from on them. We thought it was unusual since you declare your party when you vote in the Indiana primary. I head out to Michael’s to kill some time before picking my friend up for lunch. I want some flowers to replace the old dusty ones in a vase in my living room. I find some yellow and orange ones that I like and am excited that they are 50% off. I browse all the clearance areas before checking out and heading to the hospital to pick up my friend. I arrive a little early and say a short prayer for the patients who have to be there today.
My friend joins me in the car and suggests the new Hoku Poke restaurant in the Village. I always like trying new places so I’m all for it. We find a parking place fairly easily (not always the case) and comment on all the people outside as we make the short walk to the restaurant. It is small and busy! They are efficient though so there isn’t much wait time to decide what to order. It works like Subway where you tell them each item you want. So.Many.Choices. I decide on a brown rice base with chicken, shrimp, pineapple, ginger, a little wasabi, Ponzu sauce and wasabi aioli. They offer a complimentary bubble tea drink – so, why not!? I get the Mango mango. Good choices all around. The food was great and not at all bad in Weight Watcher points. The bubble tea was very tasty but has points like a smoothie – oops! We enjoy visiting while we eat and then I take her back to work and head home. I’d planned to mow but realize my stomach might be a little full for that so I head to the porch to read for a bit first. I am reading our book club book, Reading People by Anne Bogel. I make the mistake of moving from the chair to the hammock and doze off while reading. A text message from my nephew wakes me up about 25 minutes later. I finish the chapter on highly sensitive people and wonder if I might be one. I have more than half the traits mentioned but the ones I don’t have I really don’t have. I put on my mowing shoes and head out to the garage. I can’t figure out the new gas can with its special venting and safety features so I just take the lid of and put gas in the mower managing, of course, to get some on my hands. How many hand washings does it take to get rid of that smell? I start a podcast from The Litugists Podcast to listen to while I mow. I try to start the mower only to find the start cord won’t pull past about 5”. I try again. I find the manual to look at the trouble shooting info but my “trouble” isn’t listed. Shoot! (see what I did there) I put the mower back in the garage, get the mail – junk that goes straight to the recycle bin – and go back inside to wash my hands – again. I start a load of towels which should get done before I need to hop in the shower.
While I wait for the wash cycle to end, I find a card in my box of cards to send to my other sister who has had medical issues leaving it hard to communicate with her by phone. I check social media briefly, play a Words with Friends game and check for traffic on my blog.
Shower. Blow dry hair. Make-up.
Spend way to long standing in the closet deciding on what top to wear. The down side to losing weight, I guess. Everything fits loosely and doesn’t feel very attractive. I finely decide on a print V-neck tee with my black hoodie and FitFlops again. My “go to” clothes – plus it’s Spring in Indiana – so layers. Hubby gets home and we chat briefly about the lawn mower issue before he heads to the shower to get ready to go out with our friends tonight.
We head to Books & Brews for dinner and to hear my friend’s son-in-law play. We meet J. I order Moscato and the hatchet naan pizza (chicken/bacon/ranch). Hubby orders the pretzel and beer cheese appetizer which was yummy. C. joined us a little later. We enjoyed visiting and listening to the band that played. We headed home a little after 10:00 and watched a little TV news which seems more like a reality show these days.
Checked social media again and played some online games before heading to bed a little before midnight – remembered the towels are still in the dryer. Oh, well, they’ll just have to wait until tomorrow.
